JET2 has become the first of the new breed of budget airlines to acquire the Boeing 757 although it has proved to be a popular choice with the charter carrier over the years. The Boeing is somewhat larger with 230 (nominal) seats as against 180 for a Boeing 737-800. Jet2 is to base two of the aircraft at its main base at Leeds Bradford airport. A spin-off from the successful charter airline Channel Express, part of the Dart Group plc, the airline already operates 24 Boeing 737s from five UK bases: Belfast International, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and most recently Blackpool.
