AWAIR, a discount airline based in Jakarta, is to launch services to Singapore on 19 January. Originally founded in 2000 the airline suspended services in March 2002, a recent 49% shareholding investment by AirAsia allowing flights to recommence in December to Medan and Balikpapan using a single Boeing 737-300. With the acquisition of a second Boeing services will also be introduced to Bali, and Surabaya. All flights depart from Jakarta.
