IRAQ AIRWAYS could be shortly flying again according to reports originating from Baghdad. In an announcement to employees, Iraq Airways officials said the once-profitable company was working with the US-led coalition to re-organise the operation. It is thought that Iraq Airways fleet of 23 aircraft is largely intact, with two written off and 15 currently parked abroad. At one time the airline serviced Heathrow with a Boeing 747 operation and had offices in London”s Piccadilly. Tomorrow, 10 June, Qatar Airways is expected to operate the first scheduled flight into Iraq since the start of hostilities.
