KINGFISHER AIRLINES of India is a new name in the airline business but a very well know brand in the country of its origin. The new Indian ”value-based” carrier has chosen the Airbus A320 family to inaugurate services between major Indian cities. It has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the acquisition of four Airbus A320s, and taken options on eight more. In addition, it is in negotiation with for the lease of a further four A320s. Deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2005, whilst the new aircraft will begin to arrive from the last quarter of 2005. The Kingfisher brand (guess what?) is owned by the UB Group whose product is the best selling beer in the sub-continent.
