ABTN sadly reports the passing of a great ”total aviation man”, Raymond Baxter OBE (84), raw RAF recruit and Spitfire pilot, part of the Viscount crew that won the (handicap) great air race to Sydney in 1953 (with John Profumo), BBC commentator of note, technology presenter, and a very nice guy. Probably Ray”s last public appearance was at the memorial service of another 20th century British aviation icon, Sir Peter Masefield just a few weeks ago.
