DISABLED PASSENGERS (at Stansted at least) will have the cost of their passage through the terminal met 50/50 by the airport and their own airline following a court decision made just before the Christmas holiday. Ryanair had lodged an appeal after it was ordered to pay damages to a disabled man who they charged for using a wheelchair at Stansted. The airline said that the cost of moving a disabled passenger was either that person”s responsibly or BAA. The judge thought otherwise. The case will have repercussions at most other UK airports where traditionally the cost of moving a disabled passenger has been borne by the airline.
