Icelandic transatlantic airline Play has named Washington DC as its fourth route in the US and put tickets on sale.
Play, which started services in spring 2022, will offer departures from London Stansted and Dublin to Washington’s Dulles International airport, via its Reykjavik hub, from 26 April 2023. Flights will operate five times per week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The carrier already flies from multiple European cities - via Reykjavik - to nearby Baltimore/Washington International airport, as well as to New York and Boston in the US.
Play is currently operating three Airbus A321neo and three Airbus A320neo aircraft. It will add another four aircraft over the winter to continue its expansion next year.
Play’s CEO Birgir Jonsson said: “From autumn 2022, Dulles International airport will be connected to Washington DC via the Silver Line of the Washington Metro, which will allow passengers to reach DC within 50 minutes.”
