HONDA just makes motorbikes and cars. Don”t believe it. Mr Honda”s creation is now into aircraft and at America”s world famous Oskosh light aviation show last week, unveiled in public for the first time the Honda Jet, a 6-seat business aircraft with a pair of wing - mounted Honda/GE engines, not dissimilar to the unlamented Fokker/VFW614. In fact the experimental aircraft has been around for some time and first flew in December 2003, now having amassed 156 hours flying time. Honda says it is a flying test bed for a new lightweight engine but the aircraft features an all-composite fuselage structure and many advanced features. Whether it goes into production remains to be seen.
