HEATHROW as part of its multi-million pound upgrading of terminals 1 to 4 are to install a technically advanced artificial voice system from ARINC and its partner AviaVox. The Dutch should make the words ”double Dutch” a thing of the past. ARINC plans to have the system fully installed and operational at the four existing terminals by first quarter 2006. The artificial voice technology by AviaVox, which includes several language modules in addition to English, is digitally programmed and offers remarkable clarity and accuracy compared to a typical staff announcer.
