Due for opening at the end of March 2008 Heathrow”s Terminal 5 has announced that luxury leather goods company Mulberry is the first fashion house to sign space. Already committed is Gordon Ramsay with a fine dining restaurant, WH Smith, and booksellers Hughes & Hughes.
Mulberry has existing outlets in Terminals 1 and 4. The 600sq ft (55.7sq m) T5 outlet marks the first of a new design development. Bags will hang from branches of climbing iron vines that grow up and across the ceiling. Equally unique will be the way an innovative environment has been created to house the brand's men's and women's accessories, luggage and small leather collections. All this is in response to BAA's brief ”to tempt and surprise the consumer and exceed expectations at every level.” The Spanish-owned airport company insists that T5 shopping will not be just another mall.
