AIR BERLIN, the privately owned German budget carrier, is to codeshare with Hapag-Lloyd the low cost and charter airline, part of TUI. In a move clearly designed to counter competition from other airlines at the bottom end of the market, particularly easyJet, Air Berlin will increase frequencies into Hapag-Lloyd”s Munich and Stuttgart hubs, whilst the TUI company will add to its services into the Air Berlin's Nuremberg and Palma Majorca hubs. The agreement will allow each airline to offer flights from 21 German airports to destinations in Spain and Portugal.
