BAA, Britain”s largest airport operator has seen a dip in half year profits of 3.6% to ”326m. Retail sales, at the airport shops, actually went up 5% with passengers spending nearly ”4 each in the terminals. Budget airline passengers tend to spend more than those on full service carriers. The number of passengers using the seven airports in the six month period actually rose marginally to 70.3m but aircraft movements dropped causing the shortfall.
