A new Channel Islands-based airline called Waves has been granted an Air Operators’ Certificate by Guernsey’s air registry.
The certificate allows the company to commence operations. Waves says it will be an ‘on-demand air taxi service’ flying passengers and freight between Guernsey and Jersey, with plans to expand into northern France and the south of the UK.
The airline has been developing an app whereby customers can book flights with the air taxi service. It says security is at the forefront of the system’s programming.
Waves deputy CEO Barrie Baxter claims there are 33,000 less people travelling between Guernsey and Jersey than 18 months ago and says the airline wants to “take the numbers back up by filling a gap”.
