Serious disruptions to Ryanair”s Spanish services are taking place today, October 23, as ground handlers at 13 Spanish airports strike for 24 hours in protest to labour conditions. The CCOO (the trade union involved) has also called for any public aid to the airline to be cancelled.
CCOO general secretary Joan Coscubiela has been most critical of Ryanair describing the airline as ”rude” and ”not respectful of the labour laws of Spain.” The airline failed to attend a mediation session on Friday and has threatened to pull out of all the airports. ”If they say that they go away, others will soon come,” retorted Coscubiela. Ryanair is telling passengers not to turn up with luggage.
