GROB, the German light aircraft manufacturer perhaps best known for its top quality gliders and small training aircraft has made the first flight of the Ranger G160, a seven-seater single-engined turboprop specially designed for private and business travel. Powered with the highly reliable Pratt & Whitney PT6A it can reach a maximum cruise speed of 270 knots (500 km/h) and has a maximum range of some 2,200 miles. The E2m aircraft is initially aimed at the European owner-flyer, where single engine commercial operations are still banned. To date Grob has built over 3,500 aircraft.
