GATWICK Airport has opened the largest air passenger bridge crossing an airport apron in the world. The 197m long, 32m high structure is the first of its kind at any airport in the UK, and the largest of its kind anywhere. It spans a live taxiway, with aircraft the size of a Boeing 747-400 able to pass beneath. The bridge provides a pedestrian link for passengers, with travelators and walkways in both directions, and a glazed fa”ade giving passengers unique and spectacular views across the airport. It is part of a ”100m eleven stand new development of the North Terminal.
