AIR CANADA”S future prospects predicament took a dramatic turn for the better last week when a deal with GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) was announced to restructure more than 100 aircraft leases and receive up to C$1.8bn (US$1.3bn) in new loans and aircraft financing. This follows an arrangement ratified last month with the carrier”s nine unions which are expected to save nearly US$1bn annually. The airline, a member of the Star Alliance, went into bankruptcy protection on 1 April this year. http://www.canada.ca
