PARIS CDG is still reeling from the consequences of the 2F terminal collapse on Sunday 23 May, with now four people confirmed dead. It seems that only quick action by police averted many more fatalities and clearly if it had happened during a typical busy Monday morning the consequences would have been far more serious. In any event the timing could not be worse for CDG with the unsuccessful T1 being re-built , not due to be completed until 2008, its main user British Airways now happily established in previous central area AF space; the Airbus A380 due on line in 2006, and the airport an integral part of the Paris Olympic bid. Whilst AF and Skyteam will be able to move their gates around no real progress can be made until the cause of the catastrophe can the found, the problems sorted out and re-building commenced.
