FLYBE has come up with some novel ideas concerning luggage which will come into effect in early February 2006. The hand baggage allowance is to be increased from 5kg to 10kg and if you don”t check anything into the hold one pound will come off the ticket price. Excess baggage charges for 99% of passengers will disappear by increasing the allowance to 25kgs (the highest in the low cost sector) with those paying the economy plus fares gaining a further 5 kgs. Have you ever tried lifting 30 kgs? However Flybe will introduce charges for each checked item of hold baggage of ”2, per item, per sector, if booked in advance, and ”4 per item, per sector if presented at the airport. The airline says as a result of the change passengers will now only pay for the service they use rather than the cost being unfairly spread across all passengers on the aircraft whether they check a bag in or not.
