Travellers have been warned they could face delays and cancellations with severe weather forecast for many parts of the UK.
British Airways has reduced its afternoon and early evening flight schedules from Heathrow, with the airport already cancelling 80 flights scheduled to depart after 3pm.
The airline is advising passengers not to travel to Heathrow “unless you have a confirmed booking on a flight that is operating”.
“Many aircraft will have to receive de-icing treatment prior to departure to ensure that they are safe to take off. The safety of our customers and crews is our top priority at all times,” BA said in a statement.
Flights to and from Gatwick and City airport may also be affected.
Virgin Atlantic, Flybe, Logan Air, Aer Lingus, KLM airlines have all issued similar notices to customers flying today or tomorrow.
The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for most of the UK, with temperatures expected to plummet to -10c in some parts.
