FLIGHT INTERNATIONAL, the aero industry weekly, has published its World Airliners guide (today part 2 ” under 100 seats, last week part 1 ” the big jets). It is a fascinating piece of research and for whatever reason lists supersonic aircraft in service as zero (why even bother), notes that there is one mighty An 225 freight aircraft (which earlier this year set a world record with a 247 ton lift) and 5,490 Boeing 737s either built or in service, compared with 3,700 Airbus of all types. Flight notes that there are still 303 Boeing 707s active (including military versions). The original Airbus A300 remains in production after 30 years and 533 delivered. A useful history and outline specification is given for each type.
