JAZEERA AIRWAYS, a Middle East start-up, plans to operate its first flights on Wednesday 16 November. The Kuwait-based low cost carrier will initially operate about 30 flights per week to Amman, Bahrain, Beirut, Damascus and Dubai. This is expected to quickly rise to more than 75 weekly flights, with the addition of destinations in Egypt, India and Southeast Asia. Four Airbus A320s are on firm order, with the first due in late October. Jazeera is the first budget carrier to be based in Kuwait, although Air Arabia is also now established, essentially serving the area of the Gulf Emirates, a slightly different geographical region.
