FINNAIR, the oneworld carrier has become the latest airline to sign up for the Embraer 170 series regional jet. The first of an initial 12 aircraft order will be delivered in September 2005 and will continue through May 2007. The Embraer 170 aircraft will replace the MD-80 fleet and ATR-72 turboprop aircraft which are being retired. At the same time deliveries of the Swiss aircraft have been further delayed and there are big question marks as to whether the struggling carrier, formerly Crossair and the first airline to place an order, will take any of the ”planes at all.
