EDINBURGH is to be joined to Helsinki by Finnair from April 2006 with a daily Airbus 319 service.
The route will particularly appeal to travellers from Scotland and the north of England, who will be able to use the Finnair hub to Bangkok, Beijing, Guanzhou, Hong Kong, Osaka, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo. Catering on Finnair flights we are told is excellent in spite of French prime minister Jacques Chirac's comments on Finnish food.
