Finnair has appointed a new president and ceo to succeed Keijo Suila who retires at the end of the year.
The new ceo is Jukka Hienonen, 43 who has worked for Stockmann Oy since 1995.He has been executive vp of that company since 2003 and has what Finnair said was “solid managerial experience.” He takes over on January 1, 2006.
Finnair chairman Christoffer Taxell said of the departing ceo: “Suila has very successfully piloted Finnair through difficult years for the airline industry and he saw early on the growth opportunities in Asian traffic.
“During Suila's time as President and ceo, Finnair's Asian traffic has quadrupled and new growth has also been achieved in the Scandinavian market. “
* Finnair has announced an upgrading of its booking service on its website www.finnair.com using technology from Amadeus company e-Travel. E-commerce project manager Pia Viljaniemi said internet booking was now “easier than ever” with prices for different times of travel and special offers now all displayed on the same screen.
