FINNAIR, a member of Oneworld, has begun flying to Shanghai, and claims to be the only airline to operate such a service from Northern Europe (Virgin flies direct too, from Heathrow).
Finnair will operate to Shanghai three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Like the other Far Eastern services, the flights will depart from Helsinki late in the afternoon, ensuring good through connections from European cities such as Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Oslo and London. The return service will also offer good onward links to Finnair's European network. Around two-thirds of the customers on the Shanghai route are expected to be Asian. Shanghai, situated on the east coast of China midway between Beijing and Hong Kong, is said to be Asia's fastest growing and most hectic business centre.
