COVENTRY AIRPORT, long established in terms of aircraft operations, continues to expand with new routes and more passengers (Paris and Faro have just been added for next year) but at the same time is exposed to a much derided public enquiry forced upon it by the Warwickshire County Council, thought unnecessary by its own planning authority. The lawyers will have a field day with some of the local papers already making outlandish statements worthy of Michael O”Leary. Whilst the limited aircraft movements have proved to produce virtually no noise at all the villagers of Baginton have been subjected to a huge increase of traffic due to the Council”s refusal to allow parking by the operating terminal, which is in the middle of an industrial estate. The first of two public enquiries starts on 2 February.
