EXCEL AIRWAYS, the latest charter carrier to launch a direct internet booking service, offers ”full service” flights to more than 30 European holiday destinations, from 14 UK regional airports. Formerly Sabre Airlines, with industry stalwart Eamonn Mullaney as chairman and chief executive, the carrier was launched in May 2001 and now operates eight ”new generation” Boeing 737-800s (189 seats) and three B767-200s (290 seats). The airline”s main operational bases are at Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow.
