CUBA is gradually getting back on the UK travel map with the news that Excel Airways is to introduce a weekly charter flight (through Travel Box) to Varedero (VRA) and Santiago (SCU) operated by Boeing 767-300 aircraft in a three class configuration offering economy, Premium Economy and Excel One ” the airline”s business class style of service. These will be the first non-stop flights from the UK to Cuba for a long time. By November the service is expected to double as well as introducing San Juan and Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos Islands. Also new is a Wednesday departure from Gatwick and Manchester to Porlamar, Venezuela, for First Choice Holidays and a Monday programme from Gatwick to the Dominican Republic for Thomas Cook and The Holiday Place.
