INFLIGHT CATERING innovations never seem to stand still. EVA Air has come up with an enhancement that is not only more cost effective for the airline to offer but is most attractive for passengers too. The Taiwan-based airline is enhancing its food service by offering all passengers the opportunity of ordering in-flight meals in advance, starting 1 April 2005. Between 14 days and up to 24 hours before scheduled departures, passengers can click on the EVA Air web site and choose from among the main course selections on menus for the corresponding flights, including multiple meals for long-haul travel such as London ” Bangkok ” Taipei. EVA is making its online pre-selection process more delicious by posting mouth-watering pictures with descriptions of the tasty entr”e choices. Passengers outbound from Taiwan will have a wider selection of menu choices. But airport handling restrictions prevent EVA from offering this service for destinations like Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Hanoi, Phnom Penh, Paris, Auckland and Japan. ABTN has checked the website. It is rather like viewing an illustrated menu in a foreign resort.
