ETIHAD AIRWAYS has taken delivery of its first Boeing 777-300ER following a 15-hour direct flight from Paine Field in Everett (Washington State) to Abu Dhabi.
The aircraft will shortly be placed on the twice-daily Heathrow service taking over from a leased aircraft.
Launched in 2003 as the national airline of the state of Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways has built up a reputation as a go-ahead quality airline. It has become the first Middle East carrier to incorporate Connexion by Boeing, the high speed in-flight Internet service that not only provides global web connectivity but also live television at your cabin seat.
The introduction of Etihad 777-300ER also coincided with the news that the even longer range 200LR had received US certification.
