ETIHAD AIRWAYS, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is continuing to expand at a fantastic rate. Last week it commenced scheduled services from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain. The route marks the ninth destination in as many months for the airline. New flights to Gatwick are scheduled to begin on 1 September, and the airline expects to add Mumbai to its schedule within a month. Etihad operates wide-body A330-200 aircraft on its existing Middle East routes to Amman, Beirut and Damascus. Etihad made its inaugural commercial flight only in November 2003.
