ETIHAD, the National Airline of the United Arab Emirates, sprung a surprise last week by adding five Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to its large portfolio of aircraft on order, hitherto all Airbus. The aircraft will all be delivered during the latter part of next year. Etihad Airways noted that the early delivery date of the aircraft would advance its ability to quickly provide service to new planned long haul routes. The 777s capacity and range will facilitate the airline”s expansion to new routes in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America.
