EMIRATES has opened its business lounge at Gatwick and is rolling out similar lounges at its departure airports all over the world.
An ambience of calm, lush green plants and an attractive centrepiece water feature it is clearly putting down its marker.
Opened just one month ago it is proving a big hit with passengers, as a glowing visitors' book testifies.
Plush, spacious, caramel leather sofas and armchairs offer plenty of seating, complemented by a more formal area providing workstations and Internet access.
Large plasma TV screens feature all around. A 24-hour buffet/bar is available - a selection of Arabic mezzes, smoked salmon, cheeses, open sandwiches and a basket of fresh breads are offered in the morning, with hot food, including curries and soups offered for the lunchtime and evening departures.
A dedicated glass fronted lounge for smokers is there for those who need it.
