MELBOURNE has become the target of two of the Gulf area”s most forward-looking airlines. Emirates is to add non-stop flights to its present Dubai ” Melbourne via Singapore services, offering a direct service from the UK. Last December the airline launched Dubai ” Sydney flights. The Dubai-based carrier will introduce the new service to Melbourne on 10 June, initially as a thrice-weekly, doubling to six-weekly on 1 August. At a date still to be confirmed Qatar Airways is also to introduce a London ” Melbourne service via Doha initially three times per week. (also see below Qatar Airways)
