EMBRAER has quickly moved into the delivery mode after the final certification of its EMB 170 regional jetliner (see ABTN 23 February). Alitalia, LOT and US Airways can argue between them who took first delivery (and indeed who gets into service the quickest) but the LOT aircraft has arrived in Europe and is likely to be earning its keep by the end of March. At the same time US Airways collected its first two aircraft of an order for 85, plus options on an additional 50, in May 2003. US Airways plans to put the aeroplanes into service in early April. And in a very busy period for Embraer the prototype EMB 190 has made its maiden flight.
