EMBRAER suffered an embarrassment last week when one of the six pre-production aircraft in the yet to be certificated EMB170 series made an unintentional gear-up landing at the Brazilian manufacturers test facility at Gavi”o Peixo resulting in minor damage to the aircraft with no injuries. The company says that the incident, caused most probably by operational factors, will not affect the aircraft”s scheduled introduction. Damage was limited to engine nacelles and to the lower aft fuselage. Currently the EMB 170/190 family has 244 firm orders and 309 purchase options from SWISS, Air Cara”bes, Alitalia, GECAS, LOT, US Airways and JetBlue. http://www.embraer.com top
