EL AL has released its best annual results for the past three years. With tourism showing growth at last, 2004 could be a record year. Working within an aviation industry that is struggling, and with the added difficulty of reduced tourism figures to Israel, the airline made a modest USD6.3m profit compared with a loss of much the same amount in 2002. Passenger numbers increased by 2.8% to 1.3m. The airline flies directly to more than 40 destinations around the world and operates 33 aircraft.
