EASTERN AIRWAYS has made an encouraging start on its Inverness and Dundee routes from Manchester. Just over three weeks into its new scheduled service the Humberside based airline is achieving 55% according to managing director Richard Lake. Both routes become codeshares with BMi from today (Monday, 25 November), the benefits including lounge use and mileage allowances. 30% is transfer traffic. Speaking exclusively to ABTN he said that services from Manchester to Cardiff and Newcastle were being studied. By next summer the Inverness ”Manchester route should be up to four services daily with a three times daily Birmingham service added. Eastern currently operates 16 J31/J32 and a pair of J41. A single EMB 135 jet is dedicated to the Norwich ” Aberdeen route.
