NOTTINGHAM EAST MIDLANDS AIRPORT is the new name for East Midlands Airport, situated south of Derby. The name change is already causing controversy. Bob Laxton, MP for Derby North, described the change as ”confusing”. He told the BBC that the whole idea was daft. In the past previous possible name changes of the one time RAF Castle Donnington have proved challenging, Robin Hood International perhaps the highest profile suggestion. You can fly from EMA to Charles de Gaulle but not to John Lennon (according to one wag). Another problem is that there is already an existing Nottingham Airport at Tollerton. Has anyone told them?
