DUO, formerly Maersk, has announced three new routes from Scotland, including the first direct daily link from Edinburgh to Munich. Also new are weekend flights to Nice and the airline is to introduce a daily link to Birmingham, its main hub. Duo already flies to Milan, Zurich, Geneva and Oslo from Scotland. BAA Scotland is supporting Duo”s new routes, and its existing services, through its five-year ”60m route development fund. Duo have pointed out that the first ever direct service from Scotland to Italy was flown by them last November with the introduction of the Edinburgh ” Milan Malpensa flights. Bergamo Orio al Serio (some 30 miles to the east of Milan) now has services from Prestwick (see ABTN 12 January). Duo is stopping its Birmingham ” Gothenburg daily service at the end of January.
