Delta Air Lines is set to roll out its refurbished Boeing 767-400s on routes to Europe and South America, which will add the new business class suites to flights to Heathrow.
The upgraded aircraft will bring all four of the airline’s branded seat products – Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort+ and Main Cabin – to select flights between Atlanta and Heathrow starting from 12 November 2019.
Additional European and South American markets will follow, including JFK-Heathrow on 16 November and Boston-Heathrow on 20 November. Flights from Detroit, Minneapolis and Portland are due to receive the aircraft in the second quarter of 2020.
Tickets for services to London, Zurich and Brussels operated by the refurbished B767-400s will be available to purchase starting this weekend.
Delta says it is investing millions of dollars in its widebody long-haul fleet. It has already added the new Delta One suite and Premium Select on its Airbus 330-900neo, A350-900 and Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
In addition, the airline is introducing its own, custom-built in-flight entertainment system, which combines wireless technology with tablet displays mounted into the back of seats. The system reportedly enables the reduction of about one pound of wiring per seat, which Delta says will save 1,330 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually on its modified B767-400 fleet.
