DELTA AIR LINES is the latest major US carrier to experiment with what it is offering to customers. For a 12-week period, until early January, the airline is to operate single class flights on its popular Atlanta ” Kansas City and Atlanta ” Houston services. The airline is using 16 150-seat Boeing 737s which formerly flew Delta Shuttle commuter flights between Boston, New York and Washington to test whether there is an appetite for a single class service aimed at business fliers. The Atlanta airline hopes to lure business travellers from rivals by throwing in perks such as free newspapers and gourmet coffee in the morning, and beer, wine or cocktails on flights in the afternoon and evening. Also Toblerone chocolate bars, pretzels and perhaps more important extra frequent-flier miles. Popular TV shows will be offered on the seat-back screens.
