Air Canada has launched a new carbon footprint-reduction
programme for corporate customers, with Deloitte Canada signed on as its first
participant, the carrier announced.
Air Canada's "Leave Less Travel Program" gives
corporate customers the option to mitigate emissions related to their travel
programme either through purchasing carbon offsets or sustainable aviation
fuel, which Air Canada is sourcing from Neste. The carrier will track and
calculate emissions related to the customer's business travel and let them
choose their mitigation path, with Air Canada facilitating the purchase of
carbon offsets and implementing a certification system for SAF purchases.
Deloitte has been quite active in participating with
airlines' SAF purchasing programmes. On Monday, Southwest Airlines announced
Deloitte was one of the initial partners in a newly launched sustainable fuel
investment program. Deloitte also has agreements with both American Airlines
and Delta Air Lines to buy sustainable aviation fuel, and it also was among the
initial participants in United Airlines' Eco-Skies Alliance Program, which is
helping United buy sustainable fuel.
