COVENTRY AIRPORT continues to be in the news. Whilst Thomsonfly has taken its 250,000th booking the anti-airport lobby is still active and appears to have the support of the local council who, having its knuckles rapped in court, are not appearing to be co-operative. Thomsonfly have built a car park next door to the passenger terminal, which is in the middle of an industrial estate. Since this has not received planning permission travellers have to park on the other side of the airport and are then driven by bus through Baginton village, which they have already passed through in the first place. The villagers, quite rightly, are not happy. In the meantime Thomsonfly have taken delivery of their fourth Boeing 737-400 and published the winter programme, 13 destinations served including for the first time Cork and Shannon as well as Salzburg and Grenoble skiing centres.
