COVENTRY AIRPORT has gained yet more new routes taking its destinations up to 15. Thomsonfly.com is to introduce a twice daily service to Amsterdam from 26 September and on 15 October a four times a week operation to Alicante, which gets the full seven day treatment from the end of that month. The already announced service to Cologne/Bonn (ABTN 2 August) by sister company Hapag-Lloyd Express starting 1 November will now become a codeshare, making booking just that little bit easier for people this side of the Channel. The airport currently uses a very well thought out temporary terminal ”Britain”s first budget terminal ” according to airport director Bill Savage. Plans for a permanent building were turned down by the local authority last Saturday on technical grounds due to incomplete road traffic statistics. Both the airport and client airline Thomsonfly.com are confident of the long-term success of the airport.
