COVENTRY AIRPORT Public Inquiry seeking approval for a permanent
passenger terminal for up to 2m passengers per annum has been
concluded. Planning inspector, Neil Roberts, considered evidence from
local community groups, the Civil Aviation Authority and Birmingham
International Airport as well as CVT itself. Peter Village, QC for
the airport, in his closing speech emphasised the complementary role
it is playing in the region. The airport is optimistic that a
positive outcome will be reached in early 2007. Only opened in April
2004 Coventry has quickly established itself as a simple user-friendly
operation with an anticipated throughput of 750,000 passengers this
year.
