COOK ISLANDS, one of the world”s most remote spots, is to get a weekly service from New Zealand”s South Island from next December. Air New Zealand has announced a new direct non-stop service between Christchurch and Rarotonga operating weekly on Wednesdays utilising a 146-seat Airbus A320. The five-hour flight northbound will leave Christchurch on Wednesdays at 1600, arriving into Rarotonga at 2200 the day before, after crossing the international dateline. However it departs 0030 in the morning arriving back five hours later on the day after it took off. ANZ also flies daily from Auckland.
