CONTINENTAL AIRLINES has announced that it will launch a second daily non-stop service between Birmingham and New York, effective 15 June 2004 (westbound). The additional flights will give travellers from the Midlands better access than ever, not only to the Big Apple but also to destinations throughout the Americas, via Continental's excellent hub at Newark Liberty International Airport. Birmingham will become the first Continental gateway in the UK outside London with twice-daily flights to the USA. The new service, like the existing one, will be operated by Boeing 757 aircraft, seating 172 passengers ” 16 in BusinessFirst and 156 in coach. New York becomes Birmingham”s second long haul destination to be served twice daily following Emirates” recent announcement that it will introduce a second service to Dubai from March this year.
