EDINBURGH is to gain its first ever Transatlantic link when Continental Airlines introduce a daily service to Newark-New York from June next year. The flights will compliment the Houston-based carrier”s successful services from Glasgow to ”Big Apple”. Continental will operate a 172-seat Boeing 757 aircraft on the route, configured 16 in its excellent BusinessFirst and 156 in coach. Departure time will be 1030 rather than the 1245 from Scotland”s second city, with a two hour earlier arrival. Money from the Scottish Executive's Route Development Fund is being used on the service, the first time it has invested in an intercontinental route. http://www.flycontinental.com
